THE SASAKAWA PEACE FOUNDATION (SPF)
SPF strives to identify and help resolve common challenges facing the international community in the context of issues that have arisen in Japan and other Asian countries.
SPF focuses on the following fields:
- 1. "Further strengthening Japan – U.S. relationship"
- 2. "Expanding Japan's presence in Asia"
- 3. "Enhancing understanding on and relationship with Islamic countries"
- 4. "Establishing ocean governance"
- 5. "Empowering women"
Funding: No fixed limit (usually between $20,000 and $100,000)
Duration: 1-3 years
Eligibility
Nonprofit organizations and voluntary organizations are eligible to apply for grants. Businesses and individuals are ineligible. Applications are accepted regardless of nationality.
Grant Period
SPF awards grants annually for a period of one to three years. The SPF budget cycle begins on April 1 and ends on March 31. All projects, regardless of the start date, should end in March, at which time the expenditure and narrative reports of the results should be submitted.
