Dean of Students Office

Mission

The Dean of Students Office is YVC’s central authority for ensuring student welfare. Its purpose is to support students as they learn, and help them to accomplish their academic goals successfully. Working together with the college’s academic and administrative bodies as well as the Student Union, the office assists students with their personal, academic and economic issues. Additionally, the office is committed to strengthening the social involvement of the college in the broader community.

“Israel Hope in Academia,” a state-wide program, was launched by Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin in 2016 and operates under the auspices of the Council for Higher Education. Its goals are to:

  • Encourage diversity and representation in order to realize the full potential of all sectors of Israeli society;
  • Increase the compatibility of Israeli institutions of higher education with the country’s diverse communities while reinforcing the shared Israeli character of the campus environment;
  • Provide graduates with the knowledge, skills and experiences vital to a society that values partnership and the development of a diverse leadership;
  • Strengthen the link between academia and the workplace

Yezreel Valley College, which is well known for the diversity of its student body, has taken steps over the years to promote cooperation, mutual understanding and intercultural competence.

The Office for the Advancement of Arab Students coordinates interdepartmental support in a number of academic and administrative areas: registration and admissions, tuition, pre-academic studies and student services. It serves as a center for monitoring the needs and care of this community within the college and provides academic advising and financial assistance to students in need.

The Office for the Advancement of Ethiopian Students provides financial, academic and emotional support to members of the community and helps them to access various forms of assistance including financial aid, the “Opportunity for Success” program, the “Marom” B.A. program, and a variety of services provided by the Council for Higher Education.

The office works in collaboration with the Student Authority of the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, which provides professional counseling to help potential students choose a study program, conducts pre-academic orientation programs and finances the student’s tuition for the duration of the degree. The Student Authority also offers a wide range of programs designed to support the immigrant student personally, socially and academically, as well as mixers and volunteering opportunities to facilitate the student’s integration into Israeli society.

“Rakia” – The program is designed for students aged 18-26 who are at risk or in distress. Participants are entitled to a tuition scholarship, financial aid and extensive individual academic support. The financial support is contingent on 90 hours of community volunteer work during the year.

“Maskila” – This program is provides assistance to legally recognized single parents of children under age 18. Participants are entitled to a tuition scholarship and financial aid, and benefit from individual academic support, enrichment and personal coaching.
